i am home. a little bit sad - but it's always hard adjusting back to "real life" after a trip, right? traveling (especially abroad) comes with a certain lack of inhibition and a chance to make a fresh start with new people. it's exciting, exhilarating, emotional.
still searching for ways to make the two countries seem a bit less distant from one another...
i'm excited to share more pictures from the trip, but to be honest, i'm not yet ready to face them. somehow looking through them now stings just a little. i guess i need more time to process all the new experiences. so here's a little teaser until i stop being a baby!

i have more bags than any one person should possibly have - but how can you pass them up when they come in so many wonderful shapes and sizes? each bag i own has a {very} specific purpose. for example, one of these beauties from fabric & handle would be perfect hanging by the back door waiting for a trip to the farmers market to pick up my weekly produce. yep, i think i just talked myself into another bag!

after two blissful weeks of envy inducing weather in western europe (80 degrees + clear blue skies) chicago has welcomed me back with fog, rain and cold. it's actually quite fitting for my melancholy mood - but i do look forward to some sun!

i think these photos do a pretty good job of summarizing our girls weekend in des moines, iowa!
basically we ate, drank and shopped ... A LOT
des moines is a lovely, vibrant city that has a lot more to offer than just beef and corn. if you're ever in the midwest you should definitely not overlook this place- it has my full endorsement!
on a different note, i leave for the airport in 1 hour for another getaway - this time to a place just a {little} bit cooler than des moines! i'm so excited to be reunited with a great friend and look forward to the adventures that await us.

...flight 001
if a trip is in your future - i highly recommend flight 001. i stopped in this afternoon in search of some last minute travel necessities and had so much fun browsing through their merchandise - both functional and fun. i picked up vanilla scented wet wipes and a red eye kit which came equipped with earplugs, eyemask, chicklets, burt's bees lip balm, travel wipes and a mint mitt for my teeth (should be interesting!) i leave in less than 48 hours!
