supporting local designers and boutiques is one of the best things you can do for your community and your closet. i do a pretty good job of supporting this shop. it is so well-edited, so well-designed that i am never left disappointed. in fact, the only time i'm disappointed is when jb tells me i should think twice before i walk into the shop. he knows my weaknesses.
although it was difficult to narrow down, these are my favorites from their spring 2011 line. a couple pieces may already be hanging in my closet...

...be unique

more perfect words couldn't have come out of my own mouth to describe how i feel about this blog and any other projects or experiments i embark on . that being said, i do have to rant. when does imitation go beyond flattery and just become plain annoying, angering and sad. here's to people pursuing their own unique ideas.

...or pancakes? whatever you choose to call them, they are my all time favorite thing to order for breakfast. the only thing i like more than pancakes are blueberry pancakes!

i love days when i get to work from home because i can have mornings like these with my guy. so happy.

...the mast brothers
a trip to ny is in order just so i can see and taste a fresh mast brothers chocolate bar. i first saw their chocolate being sold at the fox & obel market in chicago. the lovely packaging is what initially caught my eye. i was reminded of these beautifully packaged chocolates when i saw this wonderful feature over at the selby. i have so much respect for people who put this much love + dedication into their craft. oh and did i mention i want to live in their chocolate factory - the design is delectable (couldn't resist!)

as the days grow longer and warmer i can't help but think about beach days and upcoming trips. i love the swim line by australian label zimmermann. sweet + sexy. these are my top four picks. i wish i could have them all, but sadly i must choose one. which is your favorite?

happy paddys day! in search of some spring planting inspiration i came upon these little gems. funny enough - I had created my own version of this just days ago. i have a pretty extensive collection of milk glass (thanks grandma!) so i'm always finding new ways to put them on display or use them in a functional way. over the holidays i planted mini poinsettias - i loved how the red and green popped against the stark white vases.
i'm equally pleased with the way these turned out. i used bagged moss that i picked up at my local garden shop and molded it into circular shapes. perfect for st. patrick's day decor but cute enough that i will definitely let these guys stick around long after the holiday!

i recently subscribed to anthology magazine, a new quarterly covering travel, decor, design, entertainment and culture. i love how each issue has a sneak peek video trailer. how clever! i would LOVE to write for them!

...visitors
my amazing friends sarah, emily and una came to visit me this weekend. we spent our time catching up, celebrating st. patty's, brunching, and of course being silly.
i'm so fortunate to have a very close group of girlfriends from high school - who, by the way, i love very much and miss terribly everyday. we all live very busy lives in different cities, so every moment i get to see any of them is precious. i love my friends.

this image i saw over at nibs reminds me of the documentary man on wire. we watched this as part of our documentary dinner club. highly recommended - both starting a doc club and the film!

i'm naturally drawn to female vocals + indie rock - warpaint fits the bill. this powerful all-girl quartet from the city of angels is one of my favorite up and coming bands. i've had them on repeat for awhile now. undertow is probably my favorite song on the album. so beautiful. so ethereal. fits the mood on this rainy morning.

...coffee table
ok, ok i will admit i'm a bit obsessed with capturing every moment of O's life (he's so darn cute) but i'm equally addicted to looking at photos of other peoples dogs. which is why i bought this brilliant coffee table book awhile back. beautiful dogs. beautiful photography. tim flach, you're a genius.
oh, and did i mention i'm equally in love with primates and apes! i could spend hours, and i really do mean hours, in the primate/ape habitat at the lincoln park zoo. it's both exhilarating and very peaceful watching these incredible animals. jill greenberg is a very talented photographer who spent five years with her models - capturing them just right. absolutely brilliant. this book was a gift from jb. actually it was one of several monkey/dog themed books i received. he knows the way to my heart.

...easy breezy
loving the Built by Wendy spring 2011 collection

these soft, effortless dresses are just what i need for my upcoming trip to italy and spain. we plan to travel the coastline seeing as many miles of beach as possible which means i need to pack smart and light. i could throw on any of these dresses during the day while exploring and easily transition them into night with simple jewelry, a cute sandal and a wispy updo. oh, and did i mention i'm super excited for this trip!
